My Opinion on Messing with Pictures

Altering a picture is okay, as long as you have direct consent from  the subject in that picture. Pictures are supposed to be memorabilia and changing everything and anything in that picture defeats the purpose. Then it becomes a fantasy of what you wished to look like instead of looking back and seeing how you have changed over time.

In my opinion, TIME magazine altering O.J. Simpson’s picture was not right. I agree with the other people who said it was “demonizing” him and making the situation worse than it already was. I understand he did something terrible and unforgivable, but they should have used his original picture and kept it the way it was. If they were thinking about how O.J. felt in that situation I doubt they would have changed his picture to look so evil.

School pictures is not much different. Like I said before, pictures are supposed to show how you have changed over time. Parents that ask to change their kids pictures are basically insulting their child. No matter what they look like you should love your kid and unless they say you can change their picture, then you shouldn’t. I think our flaws make us who we are and without them, we aren’t individuals so instead of changing a picture to make the perfect kid, keep the picture the way it is so your kid is who they are individually.

Assignment #3

For this assignment, we had to convey a message using pictures just like the Sumerians did using Cuneiform. The message I put on this clay tablet is from the popular song “Firework” by Katy Perry. It says, “Baby You’re a firework. C’mon let your colors burst. Make them go oh, oh, oh as you shoot across the sky-y-y.”

Cuneiform

Nomadic civilizations are like communities of people who don’t live in one place for long. They travel a lot for food and other resources. Sumerians created cuneiform as their communication because they needed a way to record all their trading and transactions with people. They used a wedge shaped tool or stylus made from reeds

Cave Paintings

Cave Paintings are drawings from thousands of years ago made by native people. It was the first way to communicate from one person to another. These prehistoric people made these paintings by mixing different natural elements like soil, water, charcoal, and plant juices, along with animal blood and hematite. They used small stones, sticks, leaves, and animal hair as brushes to right on the rock walls of the cave. The prehistoric people most likely created these paintings to tell a story or event that occurred, to teach others, or for magical and religious reasons. People use speleology, or the study and exploration of caves, to find these places to study the culture and way of life back then.

Assignment #2

This is my poster representing Copyright. It shows a person thinking about the right to  their own ideas and creations and the ability to do whatever they choose with those ideas and creations.

Lorem Ipsum

Lorem Ipsum is just the typesetting and printing’s industry version of “dummy text”. In the 1500’s, an unknown artist scrambled up a galley of type to make a specimen book. It has been around for centuries and still remains unchanged. It originates from a piece of 45 BC Latin literature. A college professor found out that it is in a book written by Cicero in 45 BC. It shows up in part 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” or The Extremes of Good and Evil by Cicero.
